How much is surrogacy?
Or how much does a surrogate mother cost?
I´m pretty sure these are the first questions for every potential IPs. However the answer to this question is not easy because surrogacy is a complex process and there are many things during this journey that can have a big impact in the final cost of your surrogacy journey
You will have to decide if you are going to go independent or working with an agency. If you decide to use the support of an agency this will be your first cost.
1- Surrogacy Agency Fee
This fee typically will cover services such as: pre-screening, matching, coordination, support of both parties (surrogate and intended parents) You must ask all that is included and not included.
2- Travels
You need to forecast an amount to cover flights, lodging, mileage, childcare base in two trips (IVF screening in the clinic and embryo transfer) and any monitoring appointments if the gestational carrier is requested to attend the IVF clinic.
3- Psychological Assessment
A psychological screening needs to be done
4- Lawyer
You will need to have your own attorney to support with all the legal paperwork and that will draft the surrogacy agreement
5- Medical Expenses
You, as intended parents, are responsible for the gestational carrier medical coverage for the pregnancy, delivery and any procedures related to their surrogacy cycle or pregnancy.
Also a medical insurance for the new born need to be considered

In a surrogacy journey, surrogate mother cost is usually one of the largest expenses for intended parents. Many factors have an influence in this expense, like country and/or state where the surrogate lives, her previous experience with surrogacy, her medical insurance coverage.
The typical expenses that should be reimbursed to a surrogate mother are: Injection medication reimbursement to compensate her discomfort, life insurance, embryo transfers reimbursement to compensate lost wages or other expenses such like childcare and housekeeping, living expense reimbursement like food, vitamins, maternity clothing allowance.

7- IVF cycle
Here you have to consider al the IVF medication and procedures needed to create the embryos (sometimes and egg donor can be needed) and transfer them.
